Set Your Hearts on Pilgrimage

Set Your Hearts on Pilgrimage! As Catholics, we are a pilgrim people with a destination in heaven. The question is where will the journey take you this Lent? As you embark on a path of fasting, prayer and almsgiving, recall the words of Pope Francis, “Journeying is precisely the art of looking toward the horizon, thinking where I want to go but also enduring the fatigue of the journey, which is sometimes difficult.” Lent is a journey through Christ’s passion, death and resurrection. One special way to prayerfully participate in this mystery is at the Shrine of the Stations of the Cross in San Luis, CO. There you will find yourself walking a dirt road, stopping to pray at the nearly life-size bronze statues depicting each station, until you reach the shrine at the top of a mesa. Reflecting on this beautiful experience, your friends at NASPA wish to remind you that our nation’s Catholic shrines are among the richest treasures our faith provides as spiritual sustenance for your Lenten journey and beyond. As Psalm 84 says, “Happy are those who find refuge in you, whose hearts are set on pilgrim roads.”
