Be Filled with Grace!

Be Filled with Grace! You have likely identified what you are giving up this Lent and have incorporated fasting into your journey. Be encouraged, believer! Remember that Christ went into the desert to fast and pray (while also being tempted by Satan) before he began his ministry. For us, this act of emptying is important because satisfaction can be an obstacle if it insulates us from the needs of others and/or from our own need for mercy. The question is how will you fill the emptiness this Lent? In the desert, Christ sustained himself with a steady diet of holy scripture (Matthew 4:4). In John’s Gospel, Jesus encouraged the woman at the well to drink the water that would become a spring within her welling up to eternal life. We have access to this spring of grace in the sacraments, and when we receive Christ’s body and blood it is nourishment for body and soul. At the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Hanceville, AL, the Eucharist is celebrated and proclaimed as source and summit of the Christian life (CCC 1324). This Lent, your friends at NASPA invite you to attend Mass often and be filled with grace!
